The Design Village

The Design Village offers Master Level courses and has been conceived to provide an international, interdisciplinary, industry-centric platform for design. In order to enhance the design quotient of the country, TDV has glocal partners as institutes & centers which form a pool of faculty & students that work closely with industries & professionals. Within its umbrella of design, TDV houses different disciplines and related technology and management competencies, to come together to form a holistic eco-system of design thinking and solutions.

The Design Village serves as the Asia Campus in India for L’École de design Nantes Atlantique. French students from the undergraduate program opt to choose between the China campus and India campus to study the Transcultural Design program at the Masters level. The Design Village has made this course available to Indian students, in addition to offering two certified 2-year Postgraduate Programs in Graphics and Interior
Architecture, the curriculum and quality of which has been developed and validated by L’École de design Nantes Atlantique.

How to Apply:

All Applications should be made directly to TDV, using the online application form or downloadable version.

Demand Draft of Rs 1000/- in favour of “The Design Village Foundation ”, payable at New Delhi is to be attached with the form with the name of the student applying written on the back side of the DD.

Admission Process

For UG Programs:

  • Phase 1: The entrance test for the year 2016 will be held on 25th January 2016, currently at Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
  • Phase 2: Situation Test followed by interview portfolio review.
  • Declaration of Results

Eligibility Criteria

Creative candidates who have passed or must be appearing for Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent like AISSCE/IB/ISC qualifying examinations.
or 
A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.

Students applying for B.A in Space Design and have a NATA score are EXEMPTED from the entrance exam and will be called for the interview/ portfolio review directly.

23 years is the upper age limit for candidates. The upper age limit can be extended by 3 years for specially abled candidates.

Fee Structure

Total course fee with an International Semester = INR. 14,50,000

 

For PG Programs:

  • Phase 1: Statement of Purpose as stated in the application form. The entrance test for the year 2015 will be held on 25th January 2015, currently at Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
  • Phase 2: Interview with portfolio review
  • Declaration of Results

Eligibility Criteria

A degree or equivalent qualification in your chosen subject or a related discipline including creative industries, humanities and social sciences qualifications, and/or; Relevant work experience, demonstrating ability to study at postgraduate level. Candidates will be chosen on the basis of the Statement of Purpose submitted with the TDV application and review of the Design portfolio.

Fee Structure

Total course fee with an International Semester = INR. 7,50,000

Portfolio Guidelines

The Design Village looks for a portfolio that demonstrates both an experienced use of materials and an ability to communicate ideas and concepts with imagination, creativity, clarity, and originality.

Some of the points to note before submitting your portfolio are:

  • Every applicant must submit a digital portfolio of not more than 2 MB along with the application. The physical copy can be carried for the interview.
  • You may include single works or developed series that explores a particular subject or personal vision
